St. Gregory offers an extensive library with over 1,700 books, periodicals, videos, and CDs, housed in two locations.
Hours & Access:
The small library in the upstairs social hall is open for self-service any time the church is open. This collection features many of our most popular Orthodox items. To borrow an item, simply put your name, email, and a date one month in the future on the sign out card, and put the card in the black box. Members of the library staff are also usually available after Sunday Liturgy to assist.
The Main Collection is available in the Education Building, behind the annex. Church school teachers and children are welcome to use the reference collection during classes, and may check out materials to take home with them from the circulating collection by simply signing the card and leaving it on the library desk. Materials marked Reference should not be removed from the library without special permission. We are also happy to open the main library by appointment.
Collection Policy:
We are always happy to receive donations for materials relating to theology, church history, worship, and children’s books that assist in the formation of positive virtues. We also accept relevant world history and literature, and materials about other faiths and other Christian traditions. Materials that do not fit the collection policy will be donated to other worthy recipients. Cash donations are also welcome to help us purchase additional materials. Persons wishing to donate materials as a memorial or in honor of another individual should contact the chairperson, Caren Stayer. Tax receipts can also be provided.
Borrowing Privileges:
The library is open to anyone. Those who are not members of the parish must provide name, phone number and address when checking out materials. All materials have a one month borrowing time limit. The borrower is responsible for reasonable care of the items and their timely return or renewal. Borrowers may be asked to pay replacement costs for any damaged, lost, or destroyed materials.
